ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Karen Kinna is a former journalist from Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature (with specialties in American and Canadian Contemporary Lit), as well as a Minor in theatre arts.
Karen lives in a lakeside town, on 14 wooded acres in the Texas Hill Country, with her husband, three children, and 6 (extremely snorty) French Bulldogs. When she isn't writing, she worships the sun happily on the porch of her Canadian Pine log home.
In 1991, at the age of 24, Karen won several awards for her first novella, "Time Enough to Touch," a 50,000 word story about an elderly woman who volunteers with dying AIDS patients. Karen wrote this story while at home on maternity leave with her newborn son, Matthew, and became so enamored with writing full-time that she decided to quit her day job as a copywriter in corporate advertising.
Since then, she has dabbled in many genres, including non-fiction articles for travel and parenting magazines, science fiction shorts, children's books, and stage plays, but her first love is contemporary romance.
As a theater critic and entertainment reporter, her ON STAGE columns were published bi-weekly out of a syndicated Vancouver newspaper for over a decade. Freelance writing paid her way through university (without student loans) and allowed her to stay home with her children after graduation.
She got her start as a journalist at the age of 19, interviewing many international celebrities, including Robin Williams, Alan Jackson, and Lisa Brokop, as well as various Canadian political figures.
Unlike many writers, Karen has never been a waitress, a bartender, or a barista. (She has no clue how to make a frappa-cappu-latte, and wants to keep it that way.) Living her happily-ever-after with her third husband, she is, however, qualified to talk about LOVE.
Since relocating from Canada to Texas in 2001, Karen has been a proud member of the Romance Writers of America.
